Highland or highlands?

Broadly speaking, highlands (or highlands) refer to mountain ranges of hills, generally 300 m (980 ft) to 500 to 600 m (1,600 to 2,000 ft), while highlands (or highlands) are generally reserved for low-lying mountain ranges. However, the two terms are sometimes interchangeable.
